President, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero has returned to his office in Abuja, after honouring Police invitation today, August 29.
His visit to the Police headquarters, Abuja came on the heels of allegations of terrorism financing, subversion, and cybercrime, among other spurious accusations by the Police.
Ajaero, who was accompanied by his Legal Counsel, Chief Femi Falana, SAN, and Human Rights Activist, Deji Adeyanju, reported himself to the Office of the Intelligence Response Team, IRT, at the disbanded SARS facility in Guzape, Abuja.
SylvaNews monitoring team had reported that Ajaero arrived at the Force Headquarters in Abuja by 10:28 am this morning.
Members of the National Executive Council, NEC, of the NLC: the Trade Union Congress, TUC, as well as other Labour leaders in the sector also accompanied Ajaero to the Police headquarters.
This was in response to an invitation letter sent to him last week.
He however offered some explanations on those allegations of “criminal conspiracy, treasonable felony, subversion and cybercrime among others”.
SylvaNews recalls that the Police had on August 19, invited the NLC President to appear before it on August 20, at the headquarters of the Force, located at the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office, known as Abattoir, where the IRT office is currently located.
However, Ajaero through his legal counsel, in a letter signed by Samuel Ogala, principal partner at Falana & Falana Chambers, declined the invitation, and demanded details of the allegations levelled against him.
He therefore informed the Police that he would be available for questioning today, Thursday, August 29, which he honoured and was allowed to go back to his office.
