According to investigations, the affected areas include computer village; Ikeja under bridge; Awolowo way; Oba Akran as well as Anifowose area of Ikeja.
It was gathered that one of the caterpillars burst the pipeline during demolition exercise taking place in the area.
National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) has issued red alert to the residents not to open shops or use naked fire in order not to ignite explosion.
Already, Emergency workers are on ground to prevent any unforeseen situation, even as they have advised residents to remain calm, as the leakage is being treated with utmost urgency.
As we all know, natural gas is safe and convenient when properly handled, but when leaked could lead to physical symptoms and in some cases, can cause carbon monoxide poisoning in people as well as animals.
According to experts, it is highly flammable, and can as well, increase the risk of fire explosion.
“If people suspect a gas leak, it is essential that they evacuate the area immediately, and call local fire department, or security emergency lines, one of the experts told SylvaNews.
